which one, absolutely love both series. What it really boils down to: doing Metroid Prime 1 and 2 again with Wii controls, vs whole new campaign and firefight mode in ODST. The multiplayer on ODST means squat seeing as its just Halo 3 with a few extra maps. Course, there IS no multiplayer on Metroid...

Tough tough call.

You guys probably wont be any help but hey maybe so. Would like to hear from others who actually liked both series. So Buu's "Xbox 3 shitty sucks dood" answer wont mean anything to me.

I liked both series, but hate N-Philes' on-going discussion about the two games.

God damn it.

EDIT: That said, I think HALO REACH is coming out (not soon, but still... put money towards that instead of ODST), so you probably should go with Metroid Prime.

I like FIREFIGHT, but it doesn't seem to have the longevity I thought it would...

But, yeah... at this point, I'd go with METROID mainly because a new HALO is on the horizon and I'd just wait for that instead of getting ODST.

And like, the Wii controls ARE great, honestly.

I voted ODST cause I have played Prime and I hated it. ODST is probably better.

Hmm well I loved prime, liked prime 2 but not a huge amount, I'm also halfway through prime 3 and I'm loving it. I think I'm going ODST, its a whole new game and not just a slightly enhanced (widescreen) with new controls game. Prime 1 was great with cube controls. I will definitely get the Trilogy, but I will get ODST more immediately. Who knows, I thought I made up my mind last night too, we'll see what tomorrow brings... Will I stick to ODST? Hmmm. Probably.

Anyway - it seems rare to find someone who is a big fan of both franchises, its usually one or the other (forget those call of duty fags).

Though, if I got the trilogy, I could hand me down 3 as a gift to my brother, sort of a cheap-out gift, i dunno, its in mint original condition.

I think ODST would be the better choice, as you've already played the Prime games. Had you not, that would have been different. That and I heard good things about ODST's single player.
Now playing

Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo Wars
Halo: ODST
Halo: Reach

Buu - yep, literally less than 4 miles away.

Kino - thats sort of what I was thinking, Metroid Trilogy on its own merit would of course win, tenfold. But, already have the trilogy individually.

You should've said this earlier...

That said, I actually still wouldn't recommend ODST mainly because there's a new HALO and you should probably save money for that...

(also, there won't be a new METROID PRIME soon [there's that other one, but it doesn't play like prime], but you've already played HALO 3 not too long before ODST and, to me, I felt like I should've just waited for HALO REACH instead of getting ODST... but I didn't know any better at the time)

...

Or take a trip to your local strip-club; I don't know.

That new Metroid game looks like it's going to play how a Metroid game should play.

You fucking ingrates - are you being disrespectful towards the awesome job Retro studios has done? For shame!

The wall jump worked better on prime 3 than it did in super metroid...

Sort of, in designated wall jump territory.

I'm very worried about that game to be honest. Not sure Team Ninja can "get" Metroid. Of course so was I about Prime in 2001 and that turned out fantastic.

In its own way, Metroid Prime was just as good as Metroid 3 IMO.

Now that I'm over halfway through prime 3, I must say the original was better. I like prime 3, but it doesn't have the umph that the original had. The weapons, powerups, and exploring was much better in the first. I love prime 3 though, its awesome, but its not as good as the original.

Hyper mode is pretty damn cool, and hyper ball and hyper missile are fuggin sweet. Still, plasma beam was LAME! And why the hell can't we have 4 different types of beams like in the first two? They didn't want to put up/left/right to use?!?

All those 'tilt the wiimote' small interactions were tacked on and pointless too.

I think Team Ninja can do a good job, Ninja Gaiden was awesome, sort of similar to what you'd expect a 2D/3D combo metroid might be. I think Retro needs to work on reinventing the engine because they've tapped it out with their trilogy. The trilogy was great, but if they did another with the same engine that would just be lazy.
